In Valdagno the rain does not affect the success of GF Liotto. Only Mediofondo path, Cunico won the race among men, Astrid Schartmüller among women with a significant departure.
 
 
Wet race, lucky race! Roberto Cunico and the Astrid Schartmüller won in Valdagno (Vicenza) the 14° edition of in the victory of Granfondo Liotto.
The race has been disturbed by a persistent rain, which has reduced the number of participants from 2100 to 900. The start after a minute of silence for the death of Piermario Morosini. 
Shortly before the start, because of the persistent rain and very cold temperatures, Pierangelo Liotto decided for only one path: Mediofondo of 102 km and 1450 metres of difference in level with four climbs: Step Xon,  Monte Margrè, Torreselle and, just before the finish line,  Castello. 


The start at 9 o’clock from Valdagno, then all participants in groups up to Recoaro, with the best cyclists at the head of the group: Cunico, Krys, Bertuola, Sorrenti Mazocchi, Fochesato, Janes, Spiazzi and among them a special “race off”, Enrico Franzoi, the champion of cyclocross.
Before Passo Xon five men broke the group: Bertuola, Sorrenti Mazzocchi, Krys, Cunico and Pontalto. They made a very tough rhythm, which was a warning to their rivals. The group broke in different parts. In the climb of Margrè the group was led by Bertuola, Krys, Cunico and Sorrenti Mazzocchi. On the top of the second climb of the day in front of the others there were Bertuola, Krys, Cunico and Sorrenti Mazzocchi. At Malo, after about 50 km, the race changed again: protagonists Franzoi, Muraro and Cunico. A handful of seconds, and Krys, Pegoraro, Masiero, Spiazzi, Janes with Fantini arrived. Before the climb of Torreselle Roberto Cunico launched the ultimate challenge.
Muraro and Franzoi tried to follow him, then there were Bertuola, Krys, Sorrenti Mazzocchi, to which was added Carriero, unable to close the gap.
After Torreselle, the story changed again: Franzoi (but always off the classification) abandoned the company of Muraro and reached Cunico who was firmly in command. 
The climb of Castello did not change the top positions, and so Cunico won in 2h.43’ 21”, all alone with a substantial margin. Second position for Fochesato, that arrived after 1’35 “, while Krys and Bertuola sprinted for third place.

While the three male protagonists were on the podium, the first woman, Astrid Schartmüller, arrived (3h.02: 57). She was the real protagonist of the women race. Second position for Antonella Girardi, that arrived after 10’; third Sabrina Zogli of GS Alpilatte, with a “Liotto”.

The rain did not leave a breather, even for the awards. Despite this, thanks to a grat organization, the race was a success.
