Roberto Cunico won the 3rd GF fi’zi: k - Città di Marostica (VI). On the 154 km of Grandondo great performance of Maria Cristina Prati. Cristiano Pegoraro and Astrid Schartmüller won Mediofondo of 100 km. In the morning also the beneficial “Race of Brave Bikers”

Roberto Cunico won the 3rd Granfondo fi’zi: k - Città di Marostica, a victory looked for, hoped for and desired from the first edition of the race, a victory that for him, who lives in just 20 km from Marostica, is a victory at “home”.
Behind the man of Lugo Cicli Beraldo arrived, at 1’53’‘, Alessandro Bertuola, who won also last Sunday at the GF Valli Bresciane, while more than 3’ after Cunico arrived Manuele Caddeo.
“I gave my best,” said Cunico after the finish line, “I prepared myself cycling a lot on the path also to deal with any weather condition”.
Just the weather was the wild card that gave some problems to the 1.700 competitors (of the 2,000 subscripted), who had to handle cool temperatures (4° on tAltopiano di Asiago) and rain.
Granfondo fi’zi: k - Città di Marostica started from Piazza degli Scacchi, with a lot of professional cyclists including Moreno Moser and Tiziano Dall’Antonia (Team Liquigas), Manuel Quinziato (BMC), Davide Appollonio and Salvatore Puccio (Team Sky), Maximilian and Mauro Richeze (Team Nippo).
Shortly after the start from Marostica, there was the rise of Salcedo, the first real difficulty of the race, and the protagonists of the race were already in the head of the group.
However, the true judge of the race was Altopiano di Asiago. Cunico conquer the GPM, behind him there were Bertuola and Caddeo (to 2/100), with Giuseppe Sorrenti Mazzocchi, Antonio Camozzi, Andrea Masiero and Carlo Muraro shortly after.
After Conco, the division between the two paths. The group formed by Cristiano Pegoraro, Adriano Lorenzi, Thomas Pernechele, Matteo Giovannini and Marco Fochesato, winner GF fi’zi:k 2011, choosed Mediofondo (100 km and 1670 m/dsl).
This race ended with a great sprint on the long straight in front of the castle of Marostica: first Pegoraro, second Lorenzi and third Fochesato, with Pernechele and Giovannini 4° and 5°. “I did not expect to win, this is my second victory” said Pegoraro, who started cycling to lose weight and later became a good granfondista.
In Mediofondo, among women, Astrid Schartmüller won, dominating the race as she did during GF Liotto.
The rider of Merano won this Mediofondo in 3h03’31’‘, second Sabrina Zogli (3h06’57”) and third Christiane Bitante (3h11’58’‘), with Dorina Vaccaroni in sixth position.
Meanwhile, the race of those who choose Granfondo (154 km with 2970 m / dsl) went on.
At about 4 km from Monte Como, Cunico launched the decisive attack, also because of the premature surrender of Giuseppe Sorrenti Mazzocchi. On the GPM he already had 45’’ advantage over rivals. Cunico finished the race in 4h38’40’‘, with an advantage of almost 2’ from Bertuola and over 3’ from Caddeo.
Among women, Maria Cristina Prati won the long path (5h33’27’‘), at her fifth victory of the season, ahead of Giovanna Caselli, 3rd place for Valentina Gallo.
Granfondo fi’zi: k has been precedded by the “Race of Brave Bikers”, dedicated to teenagers.
