A lot of registrations for Challenge Giordana, almost 900 aspiring “patented”. Six races between Veneto, Trentino and Lombardia, with two new entries.

The cold weather does not get along with cycling: false.
Even in these days after the holidays the desire of cycling travels at high speed, especially among fans, old and new, of the Italian circuit with the largest number of patents (756 in the last season).
We are talking about Challenge Giordana, the circuit comprising six cross-country road between the provinces of Vicenza, Trento, Verona, Treviso and Sondrio, in the period between April and July.
The Challenge Giordana 2012, presented a few months ago, has already opened enrollment and at the end of December there were already nearly 900 subscribers, more that in the same period of last year, and there is time until the end of February for membership.
It will be possible to overcome the 2011 edition, a sign that the new formula with six instead of five races really like for cyclists, as well as the entry of two new stages: Granfondo Internazionale Giordana that will start from Aprica (SO) June 24th and Granfondo Pinarello of Treviso, July 15th, which will be the final two stages of Challange Giordana 2012.

The first part of the calendar, instead, will include races well known to fans of the circuit, already proposed in previous editions. The Challenge will start will Granfondo Liotto of Valdagnoo April 15th, then there will be Granfondo fi’zi: k – Città di Marostica, May 6th. Then there will be Marcialonga Cycling Craft of Predazzo (TN) of 27th May and Granfondo Internazionale Eddy Merckx of Rivalta di Brentino Belluno (VR) on June 10th, besides the two already mentioned GF Giordana and GF Pinarello.

The organizers of Challenge Giordana have decided that to get the patent will be sufficient to have completed at least 4 of the 6 races, just like last year.
Entries include subscriptions for five or six races, respectively, at a cost of 125 and 140 Euro, you can sign up until the end of February, while in March bookings will be accepted only on specific request.
In Challenge Giordana 2012 there will be 12 categories: Absolute, Senior (18 - 29 years), Master 1 (30-34 years), Master 2 (35 - 39 years), Veterans 1 (40 - 44 years), Veterans 2 (45 - 49 years), Gentlemen 1 (50 - 54 years),  Gentlemen 2 (55-59 years),  Super Gentlemen 1 (60-64 years), Super Gentlemen 2 (65-69 years), Women 1 (up to 39 years) and Women 2 (over 40).
The winners of the circuit will be the top ten in each category, for medium path and long path, moreover there will be individual prizes for those who will completed at least 4 stages, as well as for the three companies with the largest number of “patented”  and for the team with the highest number of miles pedaled by their “patented”.
The appointment with Challenge Giordana, then, is for mid-April, when the circuit will start with the first of the six stages, GF Liotto of Valdagno. Meanwhile, the count of entries continues to rise faster.
